There was an episode of "Sliders" where the US never became the US
and remained a part of the British Empire, with the king living in America >> (in San Francisco IIRC?).
Always thought the show would have been far better if they had further
explored the alternate timelines, using 3-4 episode arcs or even entire
seasons set in the alt-timelines.
By going with "monster of the week" type episodes with the characters
jumping to the next timeline at the end of each episode, they quickly
burned through all the cool timelines and the show became stupid as
the writers struggled to find storylines.
Yep, and then they brought in the Klingons ... errr, "Kromaggs", and it
got even worse
