    Hello fellow denizens of rasfw,

"1636:The China Venture" by Eric Flint and Iver P. Cooper

Well we were lucky enough to trap some Chinese
speaking people in Grantville at the time of the Ring of Fire.
Grantville needs some rarer metals to make more
modern alloys and possibly they can sell their somewhat
more advance weaponry to China which is one place
those metals can be found. So they train a lot of people
in Chinese and a mixed party of Up-timers and Down-timers
are sent off by the Swedish American East India Company
to try to penetrate the markets of China. Gustavus Adophus
appoints an ambassador, a Swedish nobleman to the
crew but this is a man unused to denying his carnal appetites
and they lead him to disaster long before China.
It is a very good story with Family life, Romance and
pitched battles. If you haven't read it yet you might want
to do so. Flint in an essay credits a particular college
professor with a lot of the background which is dense and
convincing. It is just under 450 pages in hardcover
and includes Flint's arguments for which order the vast
Ring of Fire books should be read.
He finished it in 2019. Published by Baen books
then at $25.00 US/$34.00 Canadian and available in
    ebook format.
I got my copy at the San Francisco Public Library.

For some reason I really like the ROF books and
this volume is a vary good read.

bliss- by study, practice and experience

I am glad that somebody enjoyed the later Ring Of Fire books. I enjoyed
the first and moved on after 4 or 5 of them. In fact, I have couple of
    DNF'd in my SBR.
