Why would anyone want to watch The Mandalorian and Grogu when most
people have never watched the television series (which is behind a pay
wall) and don't have a clue who any of the characters are or the backstory?

Where's Luke Skywalker? Why couldn't Disney make a series or movie about
    him?

made about a younger Luke, between the Trilogies or his early life on Tatooine, but that would require re-casting a younger actor to play the character, which is rarely successful.

There have also been rumours that Disney plans to push their silly
"Sequel Trilogy" out as "alternate universe" versions and make new
Episodes 7, 8, and 9 where Luke, Han, etc. don't die. That would be
even worse stupidity than the current situation and create an even

training him in the latter. Mark Hamill returned and they used
his voice and de-aged his face for the role. So the character
could be used if set around this period in the same way.

Obviously those appearances by Luke Skywalker were before "The
    Last Jedi".

Go point. Check out a rec.arts.sf.starwars group .

Of course digital character faces are nothing new for the Star

The Eurovision Song Contest has been the best show all year.

Weren't they caterwauling and yowling to the point that you preferred AI? >>>
No. That was the UK pop chart. Most of the singers in the
Eurovision were far better than the dog music in the UK top 40.

FWIW, all modern pop music seems like caterwauling and yowling to me...

That would definitely be the definition for rap "music" ... aka c-rap music.

the Eurovision Freak Contest does what it says on the tin.

    Bring back Johnny Logan!!!

There are extremely few "modern" songs (you can go back to the era of >now-oldies like the Spice Girls or even further) that are not about the >singer's love life ... as if anyone cares. :-\

    funny.

Luke Skywalker was in episodes of "The Mandalorian" and "The
Book of Boba Fett"... he rescued Grogu in the former and
was training him in the latter. Mark Hamill returned and
they used his voice and de-aged his face for the role. So
the character could be used if set around this period in
    the same way.

Obviously those appearances by Luke Skywalker were before
    "The Last Jedi".

They do "de-age" actor occasionally, but it always looks
awful. "De-aging" also only works if the actor is still young
enough to do the physical demands of the role, although they
can onverlay the digital face onto a younger actor.

I think they might have done that for the Jedi training scenes,
as I don't think Mark Hamill was the guy doing the action whilst
training Grogu. It worked for me anyway... Luke was back!

Of course digital character faces are nothing new for the Star
Wars universe, as Grand Moff Tarkin appeared in "Rogue One". So
expect to see more of that sort of thing when modern films want
    to revisit certain characters.

Over to a SW group please.

Where's Luke Skywalker? Why couldn't Disney make a series or

The haters will moan anyway... because Disney made it.
