"unique sci-fi movie"?!? Not really. It's really just another 'first
contact with alien life' movie (based on a book by the same author as
    "The Martian").

Project Hail Mary Final Trailer Readies Ryan Gosling Fans
    for Unique Sci-Fi Movie
    ---------------------------------------------------------
The final trailer for Project Hail Mary has been released.

Project Hail Mary is a new sci-fi adventure movie that will be
released in United States theaters next month. Directed by Phil
Lord and Christopher Miller, the film stars Ryan Gosling as the
    character Dr. Ryland Grace.

What happens in the Project Hail Mary final trailer?
The final Project Hail Mary previews a unique sci-fi movie that
sees Gosling stuck in space with no memory of how he got there.
He must then work with an alien creature on a mission that
could save Earth from complete destruction.

The official synopsis reads, "Science teacher Ryland Grace
(Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home
with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his
memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the
riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out.
He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to
save everything on Earth from extinction... but an unexpected
friendship means he may not have to do it alone."

In addition to Gosling, the cast of the movie includes Sandra
Huller as Eva Strait, Lionel Boyce as Office Steve Hatch, Ken
eung as Yao Li-Jie, and Milana Vayntrub as Olesya Ilyukhina.

Lord and Miller are known for their own on the Spider-Verse
franchise, while the two of them have also directed movies such
as 2009's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 2012's 21 Jump
Street, 2014's The Lego Movie, and 2014's 22 Jump Street.
They've also been involved as producers on 2017's Brigsby Bear,
2017's The Lego Batman Movie, 2021's The Mitchells vs. the
Machines, 2023's Cocaine Bear, and more.

Project Hail Mary arrives on March 20, 2026, from Amazon MGM
    Studios.

I don't know about "unique", but the book was about as carefully
thought-out and challenging as anything from Arthur C. Clarke.

That wasn't Arthur's fault but I presume his estate had to sign off on
it. I would imagine he actually made that prediction about global
satellite connectivity back in Sept. 1964.

The way their supposedly designed would meaning adding unnecessary
weight to the shaft could cause a catastrophic failure. The time to get
to the top of the elevator is anything from 30 minutes to 7 hours,
depending on what's being lifted (humans being squishy things would
require slower speeds than just cargo), so no real need for 'rest
    stops'.

    Yep.

The Japanese plan doesn't have a specific location, but the concept
image shows a random island, perhaps somewhere in the Pacific or Indian oceans, or maybe the Caribbean. To supposedly be built by 2050. <https://www.obayashi.co.jp/en/special/space_elevator.html>

The International Space Elevator Consortium has vague plans for three
separate space elevators - Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic
Ocean. They say it will be in the "late 2030s", which is "pretty
    optimistic".
