New Starship Troopers Video Game Gets Trailer,
    Previews Ultimate Bug War
    ----------------------------------------------
Based on the beloved 1997 science fiction film, publisher Dotemu
has revealed their new game, Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!,
developed by Auroch Digital. Released alongside the announcement
is a brand-new trailer that shows off its gameplay.

What is the new Starship Troopers video game?
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is a first-person shooter
where players take on the Arachnid threat. As fans of Dotemu and
Auroch Digital may expect, the gameplay and visuals are
retro-inspired like their previous releases, Marvel Cosmic
Invasion and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. The trailer gives fans an
idea of what to expect from the game and features a special
appearance from General Johnny Rico, played by Casper Van Dien
    from the original film:

    Trailer (1min)
    <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWNBq_2ksMI>

"Set 25 years after the events of the original Starship Troopers
film, this heroic campaign follows war veteran Samantha Dietz as
she recounts her hunt for the dreadful Assassin Bug during the
First Bug War. Relive her experiences as you annihilate the
Arachnids on their familiar home world of Klendathu and journey to
all new worlds like Planet P and beyond in this streamlined solo
campaign, with access to a devastating arsenal of 14 weapons
(including the iconic Morita rifle), 11 Tactical Supports and a
Mech vehicle in a gloriously gory 3D pixelated combat simulation."

Starship Trooper: Ultimate Big War! is coming to Nintendo Switch 2,
PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in early 2026. Anyone interested in
grabbing the retro-inspired FPS can add it to their wishlist now on
    their desired platforms.

Starship Troopers was released in 1997 and is based on the 1959
novel by Robert A. Heinlein. Earlier this year, it was announced
that a new movie based on the satirical sci-fi movie is in the
works by District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp. However,
it is not a remake of the Paul Verhoeven film and will be closer to
    the Heinlein novel.

rCybelovedrCO, eh? IIRC, and I do, it didnrCOt do so well at the box office (imdb says it had a budget of over a 100 million and made $54 million, gross, in the UYS and Canada, $22 million of that on the first weekend, or before word of mouth got out as to how incredibly bad it was) and was followed up by several sequels which went straight to video.

if itrCOs based on Starshgip Stormtroopers I donrCOt want to know.

No, it wasnrCOt. Paul Verhoeven had a movie called variously Bug Hunt and Invasion and acquired the rights to Starship Troopers and did a few global search and replaces on names.

that would be it. V the Wonder Monkey made several (at least two, possibly as many as four, I canrCOt be arsed to look it up) straight-to-video sequels. He LOVES this abortion.

    Of course it can.
It can use the title and be a documentary movie about Giant Pandas.
    It isn't hard at all.
OTOH, given /District 9/ and /Elysium/, it seems likely that it will
have a lot of scenes in really run-down and dirty parts of town.
That appears to be his go-to setting.
Then again, since I gave up on him after /Elysium/, maybe not.

Those are usually cheap to free places to film.
