Not sure how many "re" prefixs need to be in there, probably half a
    dozen ... re-re-re-re-re-re-release. :-)

Reportedly it will also be the *ORIGINAL* 1977 version, not one of the
many later re-edits (remains to be seen if that means no "Episode IV"
    in the opening crawl).

Star Wars' Return to Theaters Gets Great News
as Rerelease Date Is Bumped Up
    ---------------------------------------------
The upcoming theatrical rerelease of Star Wars, also known as
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: A New Hope,
    has received some great news.

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: A New
Hope would be rereleased in theaters in 2026 in honor of the
1977 film's 50th anniversary. The rerelease was dated for
    April 30, 2027.

What is the update on the rerelease of Star Wars: A New Hope?
Now, per the official Star Wars website, Lucasfilm and Disney
have moved up the rerelease date to February 19, 2027. No other
movie currently has that release date, though Universal
Pictures and DreamWorks Animation's Cocomelon: The Movie
    arrives the week after.

Additionally, the Star Wars website notes that the version of
Star Wars that will be rereleased in theaters is the "1977
original" rather than the controversial 1997 Special Edition.

Often regarded as one of the great and most influential movies
of all time, Star Wars is written and directed by George Lucas.
It stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han
Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa, Peter Cushing as
Grand Moff Tarkin, Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi,
Anthony Daniels as C3PO, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, Peter Mayhew as
Chewbacca, and David Prowse and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.

"The Imperial Forces - under orders from cruel Darth Vader -
hold Princess Leia hostage, in their efforts to quell the
rebellion against the Galactic Empire," reads the movie's
official synopsis. "Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, captain of the
Millennium Falcon, work together with the companionable droid
duo R2-D2 and C-3PO to rescue the beautiful princess, help the
Rebel Alliance, and restore freedom and justice to the Galaxy."

A New Hope won't be the only Star Wars movie that fans get to
see in 2027, either, as Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter is
currently dated for May 28, 2027. That film stars Ryan Gosling,
Flynn Gray, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Matt Smith, Amy Adams, and
    more.

With the silly casting of well known actors, it will hopefully be the
last "Star Wars: Starfighter" movie (i.e. no sequels). The Star Wars
franchise has always worked better with mostly unknowns in the main
roles, rather than big name stars with lots of baggage. This is
unlikely to be a good addition to the franchise and simply another
    cash-grab by Disney. :-(

Yeah, that's the question, isn't it?
After watching the Episode IV version on VHS (both original P&S tape
and later letterboxed tape), I finally bought the DVDs (the ones with
the originals on them as "special features", the more recent botched
versions being the actual film they thought they were selling a
license to) -- and found I missed the "Episode IV" because each of the
other 5 had an episode number on it.
Oh the irony! I finally get exactly what I want and find it doesn't
    fit in with the others.
I got over it, of course.
