Not sure if anyone has raised it before, but I came across this
rCLBacklot SpaceportrCY channel on YouTube over a decade ago <
http://www.youtube.com/user/kylec1701/videos>. Then it went dormant
for some years, though there has been activity more recently.
I want to point out the episodes from the early days (havenrCOt seen any
newer ones yet), right at the bottom of the scrolling list. There are
only half-a-dozen distinct ones, though they seem to be posted under
multiple versions. These talk about interesting vehicles from various
SF movies and TV series from the 1960s/1970s -- rCLLand Of The GiantsrCY, rCLGilliganrCOs IslandrCY (!), the original rCLPlanet Of The ApesrCY movies, rCLArk IIrCY, rCLStar TrekrCY, and rCLVoyage To The Bottom Of The SearCY. The presenter uses still images of the craft interiors from the shows, and
inserts himself into them to give you a tour of their layouts, while
mentioning various trivia about the shows.
The premise/conceit is that all these vehicles exist, intact, in
full-size form, stored away in some secret movie/TV backlot under high security. In each episode, the presenter breaks into the lot to show
us around one craft, until security discovers his presence and sounds
the alarm, and he has to beat a hasty exit.
(OK, so his budget wasnrCOt high enough to make all this *entirely*
convincing, but I still found the videos entertaining to watch.)
I was particularly taken with the episode on the rCLSpindriftrCY craft
from rCLLand Of The GiantsrCY. He mentions the various rooms within the
ship, and how some of them seemed to come and go (as per the needs of
the episoderCOs story, of course).
And, of course, in the rCLSeaviewrCY submarine from rCLVTTBOTSrCY, the eternal question: how do torpedoes loaded into the backward-facing tubes come
out the front of the craft?
