I attended the 1992 Disclave. It was at the Washington Hilton, 11
years after President Reagan was shot there, and 34 years before
President Trump was also shot at there. At no other location have
there ever been two attempted presidential assassinations.
I'm not a big fan of presidential assassins, but I do have to admire
the new shooter's sense of tradition. And his willingness to throw
away his life. (Judging by other failed assassins, he will be locked
up for at least the next half century. What a waste.)
It has been 62.4 years since a president (JFK) was successfully
assassinated. The previous one (McKinley) had been 62.2 years
earlier, so we're setting a new record.
