    Happy Birthday, Mum.
    ++++++++++++++++++++

    Happy hundredth.
Wherever you are, I hope you are happy.

    And I thank you.

You gave me ever so much.

Fingers to poke into wall sockets,
Eyes to watch rainbows and meteors, stars and clouds,
A mind to see the maths and physics unfold,
    Breath and life itself.

You gave me cats, dogs, flowers growing in crevices
On the kerb between footpath and roadway,
Curries, the fear of falling, the joy of standing tall,
This world and all of its pretties and wonders.

    You gave me her.
Time with The Lady, my wife.

You gave me the squally, wriggly one, the softness,
The warmth, the daughter looking at me with love.

You gave me the darkness, the cold and the Christmas,
    She built for me,
A warm, lit cave in the midst of Winters.

    You gave me Life.

    Thank you.

And have a truly Happy Birthday.

    J.

    So.

    It's *that* bad?

Okay. I know where I'm unwanted.
