    Complete garbage!
It's a poor man's knock-off of proper UK mystery shows like "Midsomer Murders".

New Zealand's greatest ever (and only useful) export is probably dairy
and meat products, which for insanely stupid reasons cost a lot less to
buy in the UK supermarkets than they do here in New Zealand
    supermarkets! :-(

I like Midsomer Murders, which is full of quirky characters and
unlikely ways to die... but I generally prefer the more serious
'take' on murder mysteries. They are ten a penny on television
these days so I try and separate the wheat from the chaff.

A silly "reboot" version of UK detective series "Dalziel and Pascoe"
has been announced, but they've stupidly gender-swapped the two main characters, one also ethnicity-swapped - Detective Inspector Andrea
Dalziel (played by Kerry Godliman from "Whistable Pearl" and "Trigger
Point") and Detective Sergeant Paige Pascoe (Nina Singh from "Art
    Detectives" and "Virdee"). :-(

If they're messing around with the books by gender swapping the

I said Warren Clarke IS Dalziel. I couldn't imagine anyone else

Why didn't ITV just create a new Detective show with two female
leads if that's what they wanted? There's plenty of crime shows
with female Detectives so it can be done. Rebooting an old
series based on novels featuring two male 'odd couple'

    contemporary re-imagining") is just stupid.

Almost all "reboots", "resurrections", and "remakes" are ridiculous
stupid ideas that make no sense, especially as they are usually changed
beyond all recognition because the lazy-ass new guy thinks they know
better the person who had the actual talent to create the original.
Same can be said for most of the sequels and prequesls (for example,
the "Star Wars Sequel Trilogy" that was in reality just a lazy
Politically Correcterised re-hash of the original movies).

Supposedly such things are done for "nostalgia" and a "built-in
audience of fans" ... except making silly changes means that's just
nonsense marketing spin. By re-using the original's name for what in
reality is a completely different product, all they actually do is
annoy the original's fans and put off people who didn't like the
original so won't bother watching the "new version" (unless they're
    incredibly stupid people).

The problem is the entertinament industry these days is infested with talentless lazy people who can't actually create anything themselves.

A bit soon for a spin-off show. :-) Her character in "Art Detectives"
is newly-promoted DC (Detective Constable) at the end of the first
episode - for most of the episode she was still a beat policeman in
uniform. Season 2 is due later this year.

    with her own off-sider.

A bit soon for a spin-off show. :-) Her character in "Art Detectives"
is newly-promoted DC (Detective Constable) at the end of the first
episode - for most of the episode she was still a beat policeman in
uniform. Season 2 is due later this year.

The entertainment industry pretty much ALWAYS "tinkers" with the source material, even when it's a remake / reboot of an older TV series or
movie. Most of the time it's simply because the over-egoed idiot in
