Well, the AMC rumour was at least partly true, but no mention of them
being involved in new seasons ... yet.

AMC+ Acquires US streaming rights to Doctor Who (2005-2022)
    -----------------------------------------------------------
Beginning June 11th, Doctor Who fans in the US will have 13 seasons
available to binge, featuring beloved Doctors portrayed by David
Tennant, Matt Smith, Jodie Whittaker, Christopher Eccleston and
    Peter Capaldi.

AMC+ announced today that it will be the new, exclusive streaming
home to 13 seasons and 175 episodes (including specials) of Doctor
Who (2005 - 2022) in the US, beginning Thursday June 11. The
longest-running British science fiction television series, which
premiered 20 years ago this year in the US, follows the stories of
a regenerating Time Lord who travels on adventures through all of
    time and space.

"Doctor Who strengthens AMC+'s position as a destination for
premium genre storytelling - curated franchises defined by iconic
worlds, passionate fan bases and enduring cultural impact," said
Courtney Thomasma, Executive Vice President of AMC Global Media's
linear and streaming products. "We're thrilled to welcome the
Whoniverse into our home of fandoms, giving longtime fans a reason
to return while inviting new audiences to discover one of
    television's most beloved franchises."

Over these 13 seasons, which first aired in the UK between 2005
and 2022, the series has seen several acclaimed actors lead the
series in the role of the Doctor, including Christopher Eccleston,
David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker.
Doctor Who has also had an enormous impact on pop culture, bringing
together a passionate fanbase while garnering many accolades,
including multiple BAFTA Awards and an esteemed Peabody Award.

Doctor Who (2005-2022) was produced by BBC Studios for BBC iPlayer
and BBC One with BBC America as co-producer. BBC Studios is the
international distributor for Doctor Who. All available episodes of
Doctor Who are also available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Sorry!! Who makes 'tons of money' from Bluey??

    Bluey is an Australian series!!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluey_%28TV_series%29

    Quote
Bluey is an Australian animated television series aimed at preschool
children, created by Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in Queensland.
    End Quote

O.K., I'll give you half a point .... as the next line from that page
states "It was commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
and the British Broadcasting Corporation, with BBC Studios holding
    global distribution and merchandising rights".

Who subscribes to AMC+? Who has even heard of it?

This demonstrates that the BBC have become completely desperate after
every other streaming service has refused to lose any more money by
flushing it down the toilet. No mainstream broadcaster will touch the
    show.

BBC makes tons of money for the rights to kids show Bluey.-a Doctor Who

I do think so. As only having part of the new era means AMC+
subscribers will get a disconnect when they reach 2022 and want
to know what happens next after David Tennant is standing on
that cliff top after regenerating from Jodie Whittaker.

Of course, if they also subscribe to Disney+ that can switch
services and follow on (Doctor Who 2023-2025 is still there and
    watchable).

Generally most services would consider it more ideal to have the
whole new era of the show in one place. AMC didn't choose to not
buy the three Tennant specials and the Ncuti Gatwa era of
Doctor Who because they didn't want it. It wasn't available for
them to buy! The fact that part of the show it's still streaming
on Disney+ in the US is proof of that.

There are rumours that also say AMC will have the rights to

RTD and Bad Wolf will go and there will be a new series of
Doctor Who in 2027/2028. Of that I would bet money on.

I suspect more discussions are going on behind the scenes to
help co-fund a new series. I don't think the BBC can afford

The BBC did wonders in the 1970's to produce something as
good as they did on a limited budget. The stories were really
good. Sure, they may not look the part compared to today's TV
shows but the stories back then were way more interesting and
    enjoyable.

I do miss the classic BBC, with the wobbly sets and incredible

As a kid I never noticed wobbly sets - or paid attention to King
Prawn aliens - I was hooked on a show that was great to watch
every Saturday and it was my escape into a different world. The
Doctor was my hero and I followed his adventures because "Doctor
Who" was so good... I only noticed the faults later on as I got
older. But as we have seen lately with AGA's 'Rewatch Parties'
those episodes from the mid-1970's were great television. The
kids today have nothing like that to watch as it's all CGI,
special effects and loud bangs, the story is now [generally] the
weakest part of the episodes... style over substance.

I've heard that the rise of international markets is part of the
problem. Visual spectacle doesn't have to be translated. There's also
the fact that appreciating spectacle is passive, while following a story
takes a smidgen of effort or at least attention.

There are rumours that also say AMC will have the rights to

    show is completely unsellable.

RTD and Bad Wolf will go and there will be a new series of
Doctor Who in 2027/2028. Of that I would bet money on.

I suspect more discussions are going on behind the scenes to
help co-fund a new series. I don't think the BBC can afford

It's strongly rumoured RTD is leaving after the Christmas

The BBC did wonders in the 1970's to produce something as
good as they did on a limited budget. The stories were really
good. Sure, they may not look the part compared to today's TV
shows but the stories back then were way more interesting and
    enjoyable.

I do miss the classic BBC, with the wobbly sets and incredible
acting. The modern shows seem almost like American TV with a

    Not exactly high budget.

I've heard that the rise of international markets is part of the
problem. Visual spectacle doesn't have to be translated. There's also
the fact that appreciating spectacle is passive, while following a story >takes a smidgen of effort or at least attention.

As with the Disney deal, AMC+ would have to be paying A LOT

various countries like they used to. Such deals also heavily
restrict the number of people who can watch it, so it's always
going to be a bad deal for any show.

That's the way things are these days and it isn't going to
change, as the streaming services are not going away. In
fact, there's even more of them now... The BBC won't go back to
negotiating individual deals with multiple countries for their
TV shows when they can just sign a deal with a streaming partner
who can distribute their shows in multiple overseas territories.

Regular broadcasters are not top of the list anymore... they are
almost becoming a thing of the past.

In the view of the BBC.
