This was more like
looming than cloning, and obviously another hint along with Leela's
telepathy that the Time Lords are actually descended from human
colonists who could travel in time after the 51st century.
I think it was more an unrealistic take on cloning. The clones also had
all the memories and experiences of the originals.
What's the name of the Film?? What's the name of the Film??
Back in the 70's/80's, I saw a film based in the future where a 'Clone'
runs 'normal' human society ... because it was found that Clones
retained their 'memories and experiences' from generation to generation
so when 'The Clone' finished school (20y.o.) they were cloned so the new clone, when it grew up, retained all the previous knowledge plus any
'new' knowledge.
So this clone-life-time schooling, they might have 'done' medicine, next clone-life-time, they already knew 'medicine' so studied astronomy,
then, maybe, engineering, etc., etc..
Eventually it was accepted by 'normal' human society that the clone knew more than anyone else, so they became the President of Earth .... until
the next Generation Clone came along.
Eventually the 'This Generation' clone worked out what was going on so escaped!!
What's the name of the Film?? What's the name of the Film??

Never heard of it. Must keep an eye out for it.

You really must be living under a rock.
I saw Logan's Run many years ago, but I don't remember the profession-
based cloning. I remember that everyone gets executed at age 30, and
Logan escaped to try to find Sanctuary. If memories transfer to the new clone, is this system really that bad? Everyone's perpetually young and healthy.
I've heard that in the original book, 21 is the maximum age.
This is one of those worlds where everyone wears the same outfit.
Seinfeld has a bit where he says he approves of that system. I think I
agree with Seinfeld.

runs 'normal' human society ... because it was found that Clones >>>>>>> retained their 'memories and experiences' from generation to
generation
so when 'The Clone' finished school (20y.o.) they were cloned so >>>>>>> the new
clone, when it grew up, retained all the previous knowledge plus any >>>>>>> 'new' knowledge.
So this clone-life-time schooling, they might have 'done'
medicine, next
clone-life-time, they already knew 'medicine' so studied astronomy, >>>>>>> then, maybe, engineering, etc., etc..
And medicine remained stagnant during these generations? This movie >>>>>> sounds silly. Nothing wrong with silly movies, though. :-)
No, they might have re-visited Medicine after the fifth re-generation. >>>>>
And, as usual, as I was drifting off to sleep last night, the name of >>>>> the Movie came to me .... "Logan's Run"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan's_Run_%28film%29
Eventually it was accepted by 'normal' human society that the
clone knew
more than anyone else, so they became the President of Earth .... >>>>>>> until
the next Generation Clone came along.
Eventually the 'This Generation' clone worked out what was going >>>>>>> on so
escaped!!
What's the name of the Film?? What's the name of the Film??
Are you sure it's that old? It sounds kind of like this 2018 film.
'Logan's Run' 1976
Never heard of it. Must keep an eye out for it.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7329298/
You really must be living under a rock.
I saw Logan's Run many years ago, but I don't remember the profession-
based cloning. I remember that everyone gets executed at age 30, and
Logan escaped to try to find Sanctuary. If memories transfer to the new
clone, is this system really that bad? Everyone's perpetually young and
healthy.
Oh!! Have I mis-remembered .... cause I remember a movie where the
people with-in an enclosed city only live to a certain age (30 maybe)
before all those people assemble at some meeting of All the Peoples and
these 'oldies' (dressed in white, I think) are made to disappear ....
but if THAT IS Logan's Run, and it does seem to be, WHAT was the other
film I was thinking of??
That happens in Logan's Run.
I've heard that in the original book, 21 is the maximum age.
This is one of those worlds where everyone wears the same outfit.
Seinfeld has a bit where he says he approves of that system. I think I
agree with Seinfeld.

Are you sure it wasn't the one I linked? Aside from being only eight
years old, it sounded very similar.

I've got one of those. I saw a movie in the late 80s which it seems
nobody else has ever seen. It used to be on IMDB, but it's not there any >more.

Understanding Dave Yadallee is an acquired skill... clearly none
of us here have mastered it yet.
