Indeed it may do so as Harry Turledove wrote in his Supervolcano series of 3 books which are great reading in my
estimation.
In California we have more than one area of volcanic activity
and if Shasta wakes up we will have some sort of hell. Lassen is
bad enough and Mammoth Lakes has hot springs as we do
hot mud pots in the Imperial Valley.
A volcano looms as well over Seattle and its suburbs.
If it blows then Mount St.Helens eruption will be considered
mild. No escape if it lets loose.
No one wants to be around to see these horrific events.
Some will be most likely.
