    Today the comments icons under all the comics on my custom page are
    blank, and show neither comments nor a box for making one. On
    individual pages the icon is entirely absent.

    Just me? General problem? Poorly-advertised policy change?

    None of the above. Apparently a transient problem, now fixed.

    Back again today, apparently affecting only logged-in subscribers. They
    claim to be investigating it - by forwarding complaints to their third-
    party comments provider:

    We're sorry that you've encountered this issue, which we are aware
    of and are investigating. The comment tool is provided to our
    website from another company, so we're passing all reports of the
    issue to them.
