From page 1023,50th Anniversary text of TLotR:
"In after years,as it grew in grace and beauty,
it was known far and wide and people would come
long journeys to see it:
the only mallorn west of the Mountains and east
of the Sea,and one of the finest in the world."
Who were these long-journeying people?
There are no records of hobbits living
farther away than Archet, and men were
barred from the Shire at least for the
reign of Elessar...dwarves were known to
pass through on the East Road but not
known for their interest in trees, and
Elves seem unlikely to have made a tree
(and not the Havens) the purpose of their
journey.Ents are not known for travel,
nor orcs and the like for the love of
beauty.
Food for thought!

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
