    On September 2,1973,the world lost John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.

    I was twelve and a half,and had lately begun drafting a letter
    to send him telling of the very recent establishment of the
    National Tolkien League by myself and best friends...and in
    my kitchen I heard the news on the radio.

    Who else remembers where they were when they heard?
