John:Thanks again Peter. Anything I do to extend the shaft has to allow enough clearance for the outer collar that the radio uses to locate the front escutcheon. A spring clip might interfere with the outer collar but I haven't tested it yet. The control I need is a round shaft and the control I'm looking at is a 3/4, so I may just grind both sides of the 3/4 shaft to a slot and notch a piece of round stock, then epoxy or even pin across the notch.

My approach to a short shaft is to use a spring-clip and a bit of JB weld as it typically does not interfere with clearances. There are also kits available with various shaft lengths.

Hey everyone, I need a *dual* section volume control (no switch) for a Victor R-32. Both sections are 5.8K but a 5K will work. Anyone have one or know where I can acquire one?I couldn't wait for Mark at oldradioparts.net to get back to me as I had a customer anxious to get this done. If it was for me, I'd have waited. This is what I ended up with:

The control in the pic fits the chassis, but it was replaced in the past and is a dual 50K, so the volume control goes from 0 - 100 in 2 degrees of rotation.
I emailed Mark Oppat at where I've gotten parts in the past but haven't heard back from him. If he's busy, I'll wait but looking to wrap this otherwise completed project up for a customer.
Any help greatly appreciated.

This is a dual 5K with a 1.5" shaft, so it will only require a little trimming down to fit. It's also new so I won't have to worry about a noisy control. I'll also have to fudge a couple of 470 ohm resistors in, but it should otherwise work fine. Thanks for the advice.
