An analysis <

of current traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, broken down by
whether they take a route under Iranian control, or one closer to Oman
(and dictated by the US) ... or something else altogether.
Conclusion: a third of shipping is using IranrCOs prescribed route,
while hardly anybody is going along with US/Oman. The rest -- the
majority -- are making themselves disappear from tracking, by
resorting to turning off their transponders at crucial points,
transferring cargoes to different ships and the like, to evade
interference from the US or Iran.
You thought the much-feared US military/surveillance apparatus would
spot all this going on and put a stop to it? Apparently not.
