Been watching this Democrat Senate primary in Michigan State, which
has been won (barely) by Abdul El-Sayed, an outspoken critic of
Israel.
Bernie Sanders says his opponentrCOs campaign outspent him by nine to
one, with the help of a huge amount of money ($30 million -- nearly $3
per Michigan resident) from the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC. And they
lost.
I see that they act in a civilized fashion in that state; his Democrat
opponent is now endorsing him to win in the Senate, and Democrat State
Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was also endorsing his opponent, has
now switched to supporting him in the Senate election. No factional
in-fighting here!
Of course AIPAC and others will spend even more to try to ensure he
loses in the election. Can they find even more money to throw at this?
ThatrCOs probably a given. Will they lose again? One can hope. Is Israel rapidly running out of political capital among the American public?
That does seem to be the case ...
Anyway, the fact that huge campaign spending doesnrCOt lead to an
automatic win is a ray of light in the darkness that is the current
state of American democracy, in my opinion.
