A bunch of the Elders (a group founded by Nelson Mandela) recently
paid a visit to the occupied West Bank. Among them was former NZ Prime
Minister Helen Clark. What she saw was a situation for the
Palestinians even worse than that they were suffering the previous
time she was there, in 2018. She used the term rCLcatastrophicrCY, and was
not shy about explaining why. She also used the term rCLethnic
cleansingrCY.
She seems to think thererCOs hope to come from a potential change of
Government after IsraelrCOs elections in October. Me, IrCOm not so sure.
Sam also discussed with her New York Mayor Zohran MamdanirCOs plans to
try to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he goes
there for the UN General Assembly in September. Clark is not so
hopeful about the prospects of that; she expects there will be massive protection from the Federal level to ensure that Butcher Bibi stays
free. But the situation does have the potential to turn nasty; the
phrase rCLpowder kegrCY was used.
A parallel was made with the case of the Argentinian dictator Augusto
Pinochet; he was actually arrested while on a visit to the UK, but the
Thatcher Government was able to work up a legal pretext to set him
loose so he was able to return home unscathed.
Somehow I donrCOt think the Trump regime will manage that level of
finesse ... brute force is more their style ...
