That Jews have a racial identity is a somewhat recent development in
Western Civilization, at least as I understand things. That notion,
as I recall, came out of the Spanish Inquisition; prior to that,
Judaism was viewed as being a religious choice, and so, Christians who converted to Judaism were viewed as being Jews.
