Dealing effectively with political journalists is somewhat important
and Du Fresne quite correctly calls this out on Luxon. But, more
importantly Luxon and his mates are staring at poll numbers that
should be concerning to them.
National's poll numbers are well down on election results. That sends
a very clear message to Luxon and National but there is no sign they
understand what the message is let alone what needs to be done about
it. Luxon is too much of newbie to have any personal insights on
this. He does not understand the difference between personal and
political popularity - that political popularity comes first and
generates personal popularity.
