What New Zealand (and the rest of the planet) needs is some actual

Correct. All sales promotions are suspect. All sales claims should
be verified by purchasers prior to paying for goods. Use Priceme or
Pricespy to check out claims. A good start, not foolproof though.

A sale in what the shop has in order to entice you into the shop so you can spend more in the shop. back in the days past sales were goods on sale that
the shop had not sold in the previous season or year.

Many families on a budget will be happy to buy back-to-school items on
special a month and a half before schools go back. They get the
reassurance that they are paying a discounted price instead of risking
paying full price at the last minute.

If you stop shops from selling something, you are also stopping families
from buying that same thing (in this case, back-to-school items on special).

New Zealand (and the rest of the world) does not want or need a
calendar policeman dictating that back-to-school supplies may only be
    obtained at the last moment.

What they want and what they obviously need are two different things.

It is none of your busybody business to stop back-to-school items being
sold and bought on special at any time.

You are free yourself not to buy back-to-school items on special in
advance. But you should not impose your personal preference on others including but not limited to not on families on a budget.

No doubt they'll soon be advertising "pre-Christmas sales" in January and "Halloween sales" in December.-a :-\

In your five posts (so far) in this thread, you have provided no
evidence that the items on special are not back-to-school items. You
have provided no evidence that the back-to-school items on special are
not at a discounted price below the usual price.

You are simply complaining that you believe back-to-school items should
not go on special except at the last moment before school starts. You
are effectively asking for a pricing cartel on back-to-school items, to prevent back-to-school items from being sold on special except when you approve.

    You missed the point.

I never said they could have a sale, simply that it was far too early.
The sale would still happen anyway, but at the actual correct time of
year, i.e. just before kids go back to school, not before they have
even finished school for the previous year!

Besides which, parents will already be stretched at this time of year
trying to buy Christmas presents and Christmas food to bother with
buying school supplies - not to mention that schools won't even have
their lists of 'needed supplies' ready yet, so parents don't really
know what their kids will be required to have, other than the very
    basic items.

"Back to School" 'sale'!! Utterly ridiculous!aa X-(

Emails for Boxing Day sales have now started already, although PB Tech
is trying to hide it behind the title "Early Boxing Day". :-\

Next up will be the "Christmas 2027 Sales" in February 2026.

Now Briscoes has joined in with their email:

"The wait is over... BOXING DAY SALE IS HERE!"

Nobody is forcing you to read the posts. It's EXTREMELY simple: If
you're not interested, don't bother reading it. That's what subject

It is not "budgeting" .. it's an actual "sale" beginning now ... a
month and a half before schools go back. It's the same as the morons
who had "Black Friday" sales starting in October!-a :-\

Many families on a budget will be happy to buy back-to-school items on
special a month and a half before schools go back. They get the
reassurance that they are paying a discounted price instead of risking
paying full price at the last minute.

If you stop shops from selling something, you are also stopping
families from buying that same thing (in this case, back-to-school
    items on special).

    You missed the point.
I never said they could have a sale, simply that it was far too early.

We both know you are talking about a sale of back-to-school items a
month and a half before schools go back. Do read and comprehend my text
    which you quoted above.

The sale would still happen anyway, but at the actual correct time of
year, i.e. just before kids go back to school, not before they have even finished school for the previous year!

It is none of your busybody business to stop back-to-school items being
sold and bought on special at any time.

New Zealand (and the rest of the world) does not want or need a calendar policeman dictating when back-to-school supplies can be sold and bought
    on special.

Besides which, parents will already be stretched at this time of year
trying to buy Christmas presents and Christmas food to bother with
    buying school supplies

Parents who are budgeting properly will have been setting money aside throughout the year for these Christmas expenses. Christmas is not an unforeseeable event. Christmas has been celebrated on 25 December since
    336 CE.

The parents themselves can decide whether they want to buy
back-to-school supplies at this time. It is none of your busybody
    business to decide for them.
