I am not talking about Willis' promises - but I am talking about the
fact that the polls show voters believing that Labour will manage the
economy better than the current government. Either reduce spending
(Willis has not) or increase taxation revenue (Willis reduced it
    marginally).

Note that the last Labour Finance Minister has retired from Parliament
so Labour does not have that noose around their neck going into the
    next election.

If Luxon is serious about putting the right people in the right job,
he should replace Willis with Seymour (that 3 billion in savings would
come in real handy if it purely reduces bloated spending). Luxon does
not have the balls to do this because of the optics of the Minister of
Finance not being a National MP - he lacks the required political
    courage.

I struggle to recall a single incidence of Luxon exhibiting courage.

No but they do have Hipkins who will put in place a Minster of finance
capable of delaying any recovery of the economy in the next few generations.

I think we still have the flavour of the FPP in the mix. It really needs to
be the best MP for the job. The Goverments task is to beat the opposition
with good Government, no matter what the mix is.

He has a good line to spin: "On becoming PM I instigated a policy
bonfire before the last election" and "the Labour party I lead is not
the same as the Labour party in past governments". Both credible if exaggerated.

In all MMP coalitions, the Finance Minister has been the deputy leader
of the leading party, to offset the Deputy PM being from the minor
    party (or parties).
