First off in my view I think that after 30 years MMP is starting to work,
the MP have to work with the other parties who after other views than the "main" party.

People can see, or are start to that there is a post to get past but not THE post. There is debate and the result is an agreement. As it should be in a civilised society.

    Luxon said
"The question I keep saying is, I don't need some yahoo or numpty from some other party around that (Cabinet) table," he said.

My response is that these people, the yahoos and numpties exist in society
and one should be represented in Governent.

It does seem that NZ has not settled the issue of MMP even after 30 years
and several referenda each giving the same results.

Now, maybe it is time to have a referendum on whether of not we should
    change the flag.

We get a party like NZ First with Winston, who in 21 elections cannot
win an electorate and get between 5.1 and 15% of the party vote, and
get to choose whether National Or Labour forms a government.

Time to adjust the party-vote threshold to 15% or higher, ensuring
that Parliament has parties that win an electorate or a substantial
    portion of party votes.

Now, maybe it is time to have a referendum on whether of not we should
    change the flag.

    No.

Much more defensible to simply change over to Australia's preferential
system which is electorate-only and no party list. That should cater
for your concern, Crash. I fear, however, that Luxon's idea has been
worked out with Chippy, and would offer only a return to FPP. Only
the "stupid party" would offer such a naked power grab and not realise
that everybody will see right through it.

We basically had FPP with the last round of Liebour where Jabcinder
ruled absolutely to hell with democracy.

Politically speaking, MMP is the worst thing that ever happened to New
    Zealand.
