    My mother's new Samsung smartphone rings for about 5 seconds before it
    hangs up and goes to voicemail, which is nowhere near enough time for
    her to answer it.

    Instead of a simple preference setting on the phone itself or even
    logging in to a website, you have to dial in an obscure code (which
    differs depending on which telecom provider you're using) just to
    change the ringing duration.

    Utterly ridiculous! :-\
