of the newsgroups that he frequents, and has done so for many a
year... some find them annoying, some find them interesting.

Generally, the posting number trend is downwards, say from 10
years ago, but a good few groups are still healthy enough.

It's not Usenet that is dying per se, it's more the people using
it! I assume the Usenet network will still be there long after
we have all passed.

Not that I keep a full list, let alone for all groups, but my
Age_of_posters file indicates that we luckily have at least one poster
in his early twenties (~25) and a few from ~42 to ~49.

So if the latter category stays around, there might be some four or
five decades left in Usenet! :-)

Generally, the posting number trend is downwards, say from
10 years ago, but a good few groups are still healthy enough.

It's not Usenet that is dying per se, it's more the people
using it!

Usenet traffic is actually at an all time high, so the network
itself isn't anywhere near dying... it's the small percentage
that use Usenet for discussing things in groups like this that
are on a downward trend.

I would agree more if you said the new generation tends
towards non-usenet media, bypassing usenet altogether.

When we've all passed, the younger generation that do use Usenet
will just use it for file-sharing and downloading movies, but
they'll go on to X or Reddit, or whatever the future popular
social medium of the day is, to discuss things publicly and make
comments. Generally, they don't seem that interested in
newsgroups or using newsreaders.... and that includes my own
son!

I assume the Usenet network will still be there long after
we have all passed.

My sons disagree with you. After we have all passed, usenet
groups will all look like this:
