I am currently busy working on my Onion Courier Mixnet. But once it
is available for the community I will revive my m2n software and use
it as Usenet gateway with your nntp server and my Onion Courier Mixnet.
Looking forward to it.
Bon courage :)
Thank you! :-) Tests so far with one mixnode are working as expected.
Tommorow I will add to mixnode Hal mixnodes Ulf and Len, to test the
CLI client and the CLI covergen tool more. Once done I will add to the
Onion Courier CLI mix client an -i parameter for infos about the Mixnet,
so that one can download pubring.txt and mixnodes.txt in their local mix
client folder. The next step will then be to focus on the Onion Courier
GUI mix client.
The new restructured GitHub repository will contain the following programs:
oc_client - the classic Onion Courier CLI client (sending messages/files) oc_server - the classic Onion Courier Tor Hidden Service CLI server (to
receive messages/files)
oc_mix_client - GUI/CLI client to send messages through the Onion Courier
Mixnet and to reach oc_server users too.
oc_mix_server - The Tor Hidden Service Onion Courier mix node
oc_email - an email clear net gateway.
oc_news - a Usenet cl|-ar net gateway, which can be configured with your
free Usenet service.
Running three Onion Courier mix nodes costs me, with 3 VPS servers, only
3 re4/month ... :-) Later, once a README is done, I encourage people to
run their own public or anonymous mix node too. Setting-up an Onion
Courier mix node takes less than a minute, besides installing a Tor
Hidden Service. Learning the GUI/CLI client takes less than 30 seconds.
To do so has the big advantage that many decentralized Onion Courier
Mixnets can exist, publicity or anonymously, run on a spare Raspberry Pi, smartphone, VPS, Windows box etc. and nobody knows where the communications flows, thanks to Tor Hidden Services and the http protocol. Public and anonymous mix nodes can co-exist with each other, because there are no restrictions between mix nodes and clients. The only "restriction" is that
in the Onion Courier Mixnet a single message can only have a max. file
size of 4MB, while direct oc_client/oc_server communications allows
unlimited file size.
Best regards
Stefan
