    In cnfsstat,

    I get

    cnfsstat
    Class AREAALTBINARIES for groups matching "alt.binaries.*", article size min/max: 0/2000000
    Buffer ALTBIN, size: 1024 TBytes, position: 44.8 GBytes 0.00 cycles
    Newest: 2026-09-17 20:52:10, 0 days, 0:00:01 ago


    Just a note

    dd if=/dev/zero of=/usr/local/news/articles/altbinaries bs=1024k count=1024k

    -rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 48163627008 Sep 17 20:53 /usr/local/news/articles/altbinaries

    The file should be 1TB

    The size reported here looks incorrect, probably due to wrong value in cycbuff.conf.

    Just a note

    dd if=/dev/zero of=/usr/local/news/articles/altbinaries bs=1024k count=1024k

    -rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 48163627008 Sep 17 20:53 /usr/local/news/articles/altbinaries

    The file should be 1TB

    If you use ZFS the compression this is the right value based on the output of cnfsstat. Do a 'du -A' on the buffer file to see the apparent size without compression.
