• Trying to split storage methods

    Right, I am using tradindex

    and for storage

    method tradspool {
    newsgroups: *,!alt.binaries.*
    class: 0
    }

    method cnfs {
    newsgroups: alt.binaries.*
    class: 1
    size: 0,2000000
    expires: 0s,366d
    options: AREAALTBINARIES
    }

    Yet in the ../alt/binaries

    new articles are popping up when they should be in the cnfs.

    What am I missing?

    Crossposts between alt.binaries.* and groups not in alt.binaries.*.

    If you don't want any postings that also go to alt.binaries.* in your tradspool, you need to use "@" instead of "!".

    From "man storage.conf" (or <https://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/software/inn/docs/storage.conf.html>):

    | newsgroups: <wildmat>
    |
    | What newsgroups are stored using this storage method. <wildmat> is
    | a uwildmat pattern which is matched against the newsgroups an
    | article is posted to. If storeonxref in inn.conf is true, this
    | pattern will be matched against the newsgroup names in the Xref
    | header field body; otherwise, it will be matched against the
    | newsgroup names in the Newsgroups header field body (see inn.conf
    | (5) for discussion of the differences between these possibilities).
    | Poison wildmat expressions (expressions starting with "@") are
    | allowed and can be used to exclude certain group patterns:
    | articles crossposted to poisoned newsgroups will not be stored
    | using this storage method. The <wildmat> pattern is matched in
    | order.
