• for TB(ES), the set of posts i see for each group is complete?

maybe this is a ES (Eternal September) question.

The oldest post i see in this TB group is 12/12/2023.

In another group, i see posts from 10+ years ago. e.g.-------

    alt.discuss.html ---- i'm seeing a long thread from 2013
and a one from 2008 (to which i just replied)

Is this a complete set of posts for this group (alt.discuss.html) ?

    --------- i'm asking... for TB(ES),
Subject to differing expiration period for each group (?)

the set of posts i see for each group is pretty complete?

It is likely that the messages on E-S are stored in a way that overwrite
the oldest ones when the storage fills. The TB groups is rather active,
while I assume the other groups is rather less so.

IIRC alt.comp.software.thunderbird was newgrouped only quite recently,
to replace the Mozilla t'bird group that was lost when Mozilla closed
its newsserver. Storage of articles on the E-S version of alt.comp.software.thunderbird commences when Ray created it on his
server shortly after it was newgrouped.

Andy created these groups April 2021, first post April 2.
On my ISP's server alt.comp.software.thunderbird now has 12803 posts.
My ISP doesn't do any filtering, afaik, but I do, so there could be some
    more.
