[Not sure if this is better as freebsd-stable@ vs. as freebsd-pkgbase@ .
I also took a guess that ivy@ would be appropriate.]
My upgrade of the amd64 pkgbase stable/15 to (using the kernel context
for identification):
# strings /boot/kernel/kernel | grep ' stable/15-n'
@(#)FreeBSD 15.1-STABLE stable/15-n284648-008d3bafa124 GENERIC
FreeBSD 15.1-STABLE stable/15-n284648-008d3bafa124 GENERIC
was done on a amd64 main system via first chroot'ing into the stable/5
media that can be used for booting and operation.
The upgrade sequence started with:
# env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static update -rFreeBSD-base
Then the kernel and related were upgraded, as if it needed a reboot
before the world upgrade:
# env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static upgrade -U -rFreeBSD-base \
-g FreeBSD-bootloader FreeBSD-kernel-generic\* \
FreeBSD-kernel-minimal\* FreeBSD-src-sys
# env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static install -U -rFreeBSD-base \
-g FreeBSD-bootloader FreeBSD-kernel-generic\* \
FreeBSD-kernel-minimal\* FreeBSD-src-sys
(That last normally finds nothing to do.)
Then the world upgrade:
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static upgrade -F -U -rFreeBSD-base
#
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static upgrade -U -rFreeBSD-base -g FreeBSD-src\*
#
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static upgrade -U -rFreeBSD-base
#
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static install -F -U -rFreeBSD-base -g FreeBSD-\*
#
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static install -U -rFreeBSD-base -g FreeBSD-\*
#
env ABI=FreeBSD:15:$(sysctl -n hw.machine_arch) \
pkg-static upgrade -U -rFreeBSD-base
(Again, some of this normally finds nothing to do. And, yes, this
context is set up to have all the upstream FreeBSD-base packages
installed explicitly, none intended to be missing.)
But afterwards:
# pkg-static check -da
Checking all packages: 100%
FreeBSD-tests has a missing dependency: FreeBSD-googletest
Missing package dependencies were detected.
Found 1 issue(s) in the package database.
pkg-static: No packages available to install matching
'FreeBSD-googletest' have been found in the repositories
Summary of actions performed:
FreeBSD-googletest dependency failed to be fixed
There are still missing dependencies.
Try fixing them manually.
Also make sure to check 'pkg updating' for known issues.
pkg-static: Package database is busy while closing!
Looking, I do not find any . . .
<
https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:15:amd64/base_latest/FreeBSD-googletest*>
to go with the two:
<
https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:15:amd64/base_latest/FreeBSD-tests*-15.snap20260729183710.pkg>
