In my case:
* I needed both libmd.so.7 and libutil.so.10.
* The cited circumvention (copying the missing libraries from
/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/tmp/lib/ to /lib) proved effective.
* The systems being updated had generally been getting regular weekly
updates, tracking stable/14 for the last couple of years, with the
"build" part being done on a machine that is better suited to the
task, which then NFS-exports its /usr/src & /usr/obj to the "client"
machines. They then install to a DESTDIR that is a different
bootable slice (so "rollback" is just "reboot from the old slice").
* This update was from stable/14-n273128-f9d671f726ac (28 Dec 2025) to
stable/15-n281645-785d429c2b93 (31 Dec 2025).
I'm posting in the hope that doing so might make others' circumventions
a bit faster. :-}
