    hello,

builds for 15.0-BETA4 will begin tomorrow (October 31). i have landed
my last batch of pkgbase fixes for releng/15.0 today, and do not plan to
land any more pkgbase changes in releng/15.0 unless new bugs are
    discovered prior to release.

if you are aware of any issues in pkgbase that should be fixed for 15.0,
please let me know very soon.

the following issues are known but out of scope for src, and will
probably not be fixed for 15.0:

    * the error message when removing a dependency of a vital package is
    uninformative (https://github.com/freebsd/pkg/issues/2517)

    * pkg may crash when trying to remove itself during upgrade
    (https://github.com/freebsd/pkg/issues/2496)

Just to be clear, that's "tomorrow at approximately 00:00 UTC", i.e.
    about 3 hours from now.

That doesn't mean it's too late to get anything fixed, but it does
mean you need to speak up ASAP if anything is going to be fixed in
    next week's builds.

Though I'm not sure if it should really be fixed for 15.0...

IIRC, Colin said (in freebsd-stable ML?) that he is planning to move confiugration information of official pkgbase repository
("FreeBSD-base") to /etc/pkg/FreeBSD.conf in 15.0. But if I make fresh
pkgbase install with latest 16-CURRENT amd64 snapshot iso image (main
20251027 1d100747d747), the information is stil put in /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/FreeBSD-base.conf.

    HTH.

as it happens i just asked Colin about this on IRC and this change is
still planned for the 15.0 release. the holdup is that we're waiting
on clusteradm to sort out the HSM stuff to sign the packages for the
    new repository.
