Whenever I say wine here, assume I have also said wine-proton. I have
tried wine a number of different ways. At one point, I also noticed my linuxulator wasn't passing audio, but this was fixed with a few more
libraries installed on the linux side. So now factorio (linux) works.
I also don't appear to have any problem with either linux or wine 3D.
Things that will run without audio run fine.
On the FreeBSD side, I have little trouble. There are about a dozen audio devices ... most of them for every possible HDMI and DisplayPort connection
in the machine. The 2nd one, however (pcm1) is my preferred. Setting the preferred with kde seems to make it happen for things that don't set their
own audio.
On wine, however, no audio choices show up. Some games (Fallout 4 is one)
will not launch without audio --- and so they refuse. Other games launch
and run fine, but have no audio.
I've messed with alsa, port audio, and oss. Heck ... even my non-standard headset (uses 48k audio) is working fine on FreeBSD. No sound working on
wine.
Can anyone give pointers to a working sound system? I'm very close to
having a working system to make some notes about both steam and non-steam
games on FreeBSD. Just the audio is broken.
