Samsung New Zealand is running an advertising campaign using a local
real estate agent with the name Tim Cook, and giving him a hair style
and clothing to look somewhat like a bit fatter version of Apple's Tim
    Cook.

The New Zealand telecoms provider Skinny (a sub-brand of Spark, which
used to be called Telecom New Zealand) also used local people with
famous names in their advertising a few years ago. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONtEnXyFMsE>

Samsung Finds Another Guy Named Tim Cook To Promote Galaxy Z Fold 8
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim Cook loves his new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. No, not that Tim Cook.
Tim Cook the real estate agent from Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Samsung New Zealand tapped the other Tim Cook to rave about its
latest foldable phone in an ad released just as Apple announced its
first folding iPhone, the double-screen iPhone Duo.

"Tim Cook has an announcement. And for once, it's about Galaxy,"
reads a tagline on the ad posted to TikTok.

In it, the New Zealander with gray hair and spectacles looks
strikingly similar to Apple's former CEO, who on September 1 stepped
down from the position after 15 years and transitioned to executive
chairman of the company. He sits in a chair with a white background
reminiscent of Apple's famously minimalist aesthetic and reviews the
    Galaxy Z Fold 8.

"This thing is the best of both worlds," the real estate agent says
of the device released by Samsung in July. "Nice and compact folded,
it's perfect for firing off a text and big and beautiful when you
    unfold it."

While Apple is new to foldable phones, Samsung has released them
before, giving it an early lead in the foldable-phone game. Its
cheeky jab at Apple is a not-so-subtle reminder that it was there
    first.

The iPhone Duo, announced on September 9, marked the first product
launch for Cook's replacement John Ternus. The iPhone arrives amid
predictions that foldable phones could become the go-to commuting
devices of the future, comprising the majority of new phone sales
    within a decade.

"Users will increasingly see the benefits of having a larger display
in their pocket and a device that can replace a laptop or tablet for
many tasks," Bloomberg technology reporter Mark Gurman said in his
    latest Power On newsletter.

That vision is central to how both Apple and Samsung are positioning
their foldable devices. "The future is here," Tim Cook from
New Zealand says in the Samsung ad. He also appears in a separate
Galaxy Z Fold 8 unboxing video.

Kinda late now that Tim Apple has stepped down.

Many people are familiar with Tim Cook but not so many with John Ternus.

John also seems much more forgettable than Tim - at least until until now.

To be honest, all the current rCLpresentationrCY of Apple execs gives the ikes Efno

    Way overdone on the fakeness.
