What do you mean "WTF"? This is common practice when resetting passwords.
I think what the OP was thinking was that when he tried the password when
the problem first came up, using that password didn't work. Now it appears
it was right or was right at one time.
Thank you, Paul. This person is 87 years old and never accessed the
apple account. There could only have been one prior password since this
phone was first set up. It's all solved now, so who gives a shit, but
that's why I started this post with "Funny thing" and ended it with WTF.
