• Synchronise Gnus seen-status between two systems

    Hi,

I use two laptops. When reading usenet and other news
on the one, I see messages I have already seen on the
    other.

What would be a good way to share or synchronise the
list of subcribed groups, and the seen-status of their
    messages between these two?

Would putting .newsrc and .newsrc.eld on a NFS-share
be a good idea? (I don't run Gnus on both machines
    at the same time)

Will it be enough to sync these files, or should I
    also look at other files?

    Thanks,

    Matto

I have .newsrc and .newsrc.eld in a directory which is synchronised
    between two laptops via Nextcloud.

This works, although it seems a little brittle. You probably need to
ensure that your Gnus configurations are identical (I use Git for that), otherwise the files could become corrupted. When I initially set this
up, this happened to me a couple of times and I had throw the files
away. I only subscribe to a couple of groups, so the main work was
recreating the topics I use to sort my mail.

    Ah, great.

Maybe I should synchronise these too.

Yes, it stays a bit scary :)

Good to know the concept works. Thanks!

    Best regards,
