    Hello!

    For many several years I have used dired with
    //username@myserver.de:/
    For logging in with ftp to an external ftp-server.

    From linux-konsole with commandline ftp to
    it is still working.

    But after changing to emacs
    GNU Emacs 27.2 (build 1, x86_64-suse-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.31, cairo version 1.16.0)
    (which is coming with Leap 15.4) it is not longer working. :(

    If I do now dired with
    //username@myserver.de:/
    (no difference, how many leading / I am using) it says:

    "Setting current directory: file or directory not found, /username@myserver.de:/"

    Is there something which must be change in .emacs to get dired for an
    external ftp-server getting working again in emacs 27.2?

    Thanx.

    Regards, Astrid

    Hi,

    From some time now (I don't remember when), TRAMP does not handle "//"
    for selecting the default method.

    You'd have to do "/-:username@myserver.de:/"

    Best regards,
