    Hi guys !

I create a zip file on Solaris with "zip -qry" (thus containing
symlinks) and when I try to unzip it, this dies with a "bus error" (not
seen for decades!) when "finishing deferred symbolic links:". I can
unzip the file on macOS with no problems, the links are created
correctly. So the archive seems to be ok.

Surprisingly, the "unzip" version on Solaris is "Info-ZIP UnZip
6.1c25-BETA (2018-12-20)", which is not only newer than on macOS ("UnZip
6.00 of 20 April 2009, by Info-ZIP, with modifications by Apple Inc.")
    but also a beta release.

I "truss"ed the "unzip" attempt but I don't know what's going wrong. Is
this beta version known to be buggy?
I don't have a Solaris 10 machine at the moment and all the Solaris 11 instances seem to have the same new version. I did the same on a couple
of them, always with the same error. I also tried to find the source
code for an older version (in order to build it by myself) but couldn't
    find it.

Does anybody have an older "unzip" binary for SPARC that I could test?

    Thanks for any hint!

    Frank

FWIW: "unzip -v" and "unzip -t" is working ...

    I have a virtual machine Solaris 9

It works fine, both ways (tested). Is that of help? If those programs
weren't on the install DVD, they probably came from
companion-sparc-sol9.iso to the best of my memory.

Thanks for the offer but I think I need at least v6.0 to support the
symlinks. Maybe there is also a newer version than this 6.1 beta which
    fixes the isuue?

    Did you put it there?

I also found that but it looks somehow dead, doesn't it?

That's what I was looking for with no success.

But at the end, this 6.0 binary creates the links as expected :) ...
    thanks a lot!

So I doubt it's possible or even useful to open a bug for 6.1 on Solaris
    there ...

It's getting even funnier! I just updated some machines to 11.4.95 - and
out of curiosity, I instantly tried it out. Believe it or not, also the "on-board" version is working here. So I can only see the bug on 11.4.94
up to now. I'll try some older versions ...

11.4.93 is also not affected - very cute!

It's a mess! The dependency of Solaris versions seems to be wrong and it
looks more or less unreproducable whether the built-in "unzip" works or
not. The funny thing is that file links are created correctly but it
crashes while processing those "deferred links" at the end - directories?
The 6.0 binary doesn't seem to have problems with the links BUT it fails
to restore GIDs with "-X". And excluding files with "-x" does nothing,
    in both cases.

I'm now trying to build a combination of old and new "unzip" to get the archive unpacked ...
