Announcement text: ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: transition-metals
New release v1.0 rCo package for transition metal electronic configurations and Hybridization diagrams for transition metal complexes
Date: 18 May 2026
We are pleased to announce the first release of the transition-metals package for drawing hybridization diagrams of transition metal complexes.
Features
rCo Single command: \Complex{atomic number}{metal}{charge}{ligand}{coordination number}
rCo Supports sp, sp-#, dsp-#, sp-|d, d-#sp-| hybridization
rCo Automatic distinction between strong ligands (low spin) and weak ligands (high spin)
rCo First row (Z=21rCo30): depends on ligand type (NHrea, CNrU+, CO, en) rCo Second and third rows (ZreN31): all ligands treated as strong
rCo Fills orbitals used in hybridization (d, s, p)
rCo Automatically calculates: d electron count, magnetic property (diamagnetic/paramagnetic), EAN
Changes
rCo Renamed main command from \ComplexStrong/\ComplexWeak to \Complex
rCo Fixed Extra } error with \ComplexStrong{26}{Fe}{2+}{(CN)}{6}
rCo Added hybridization support for coordination numbers 2, 3, and 5
rCo Replaced \drawDElectronsPaired with safer electron drawing
Bug Fixes
rCo Fixed missing yellow fill for sp, sp-#, sp-|d hybridizations
rCo Fixed incorrect electron configuration for elements Z > 36 Installation
tlmgr install chemhybrid (CTAN submission pending)
