• MacOS 26.6: change appearance

Are there different color styles around, how you might change the
appearance of MacOS windows and finder?

The system settings -> appearance does not offer the options I want.

I'm annoyed by the "white" look of every finder. Maybe I had better eyes before. But now everything is a blurr of white and light grey. I don't
see any borders any more between tabs, vertical scroll bars etc.

And when I change the format to "dark" I don't see any borders any more
    between different windows.

Maybe you can find an accessibilty setting to help. I use Settings/Accessibility/Display/Increase contrast; it adjusts
the definition of window and button boundaries, etc.

Thanks - increasing contrast does show more visible borders now.

Unfortuantely you can't officially turn off the awful "Liquid Glass"
nonsense and it's been many versions since you were able to
    'theme'/'skin' MacOS. :-(

Until Apple finally sees sense (or more likely introduces something
even worse!), the best you can do is tweak a few settings to tone down
    the "Liquid Glass" effects.

Reportedly there is actually a hidden option that can be toggled via a Terminal command to *ALMOST* turn "Liquid Glass" off in MacOS 26, but
    doesn't quite fully work: <https://tidbits.com/2025/10/09/how-to-turn-liquid-glass-into-a-solid-interface/>

    Thanks!

    I'll give

defaults write -g com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES

    a try
