I remember that the panel can be folded down toward the front. But I--- Synchronet 3.21a-Linux NewsLink 1.2
just can't remember how I did it. All I remember is that it was very
easy and that I wanted to write down how I did it. Of course, I didn't
write it down.
The PCSERVER 520 user manual states on page 11 that the front panel can
be opened with a key.
http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/pc_servers/sm1013us.pdf
This key position does not exist on my PCSERVER 520.
I believe the PCSERVER 500 and PCSERVER 520 have the same housing and
can therefore be opened in the same way.
I'm at a loss. Can anyone help?
Wolfgang

By panel, do you mean the entire front bezel, or th upper door that
covers the CDROM and floppy?

Took a bit of devious thinking to findt. IBM, world-striding colossus
sucked at tech writing, but they did cover it.

6.Remove the front cover:
-aa.Release the latch on the left side of the CD-ROM storage compartment
by pulling it up from the bottom.
-ab.Grasp the sides of the front cover and pull it forward.-a-a (Or, you may grasp the handle at the top left corner of the server.)
-ac.Detach the front cover bottom hooks from the grooves that are
located on the bottom of the server, and lift the front cover off the
bottom of the server.

Thanks, Louis. That's the solution. I should have pulled a little harder
on the front bezel. I remember it being much easier to move and didn't
want to damage anything.

Well, IBM could have made it a LOT easier by including a subject called "Removing the Front Bezel".--- Synchronet 3.21a-Linux NewsLink 1.2
Yeah, think of the first time opening a Model 95. You need to apply a
little Moxie to open the front bezel. The illustrations do NOT tell you
how much effort pulling the bottom edge forward will be.
Same for 60/65/80.
Now that these systems are perhaps 30 years old, what used to be SIMMply yanking a bezel until it unlatched is now a question of design.
Think of the upper hooks used on the Model 95's front bezel. If you
pivot the front bezel with those hooks fully engaged in the cutouts in
the frame, alles wunderbar. If one of those hooks is not fully engaged,
you might snap one off.
"Bother", said Pooh as he strafed the lifeboats...
