I was just thinking the same thing, Google/Alphabet seems to have caused the premature death of comp.sys.apple2. I hope something might bring it back, Facebook and various scathered websites are certainly not a replacement.
We need a centralized place for all Apple II discussions, with archiving too.

I've been here since 1992, csa2 was my introduction to the Internet!
I remember back then you'd see 150-200 message per day, and on a
multitude of topics. I miss that, I do still have interest in my Apple II's
and continue to use them. In fact, this January marks 37 years I've

I'm still here as well, checking for new messages daily, and still grateful for the contributions and expertise of those who have replied on the thread.

Speaking only for myself, I've been debating which Apple II project I wish to tackle next. There are several in which I have some interest, but not that one (yet) that compels me to actually get serious about doing more than just dabble in it.

I suspect when the urge hits, I'll be consumed by it, which usually means other (comparatively more important) things in life will suffer. It seems to be a personality defect. ;-)

As for the current projects of other community members, both here and elsewhere, I really haven't felt competent enough to contribute much, so I have refrained from commenting or even asking questions on them.

I do still think that this newsgroup is a superior medium for most of what we do in the realm of Apple II discussion. Sure, I frequent other places out of necessity, but wish I didn't need to.

I certainly hope itrCOs the latterrCa.

I was just thinking the same thing, Google/Alphabet seems to have caused
the premature death of comp.sys.apple2. I hope something might bring it back,
Facebook and various scathered websites are certainly not a replacement.
We need a centralized place for all Apple II discussions, with archiving too.

I've been here since 1992, csa2 was my introduction to the Internet!
I remember back then you'd see 150-200 message per day, and on a
multitude of topics. I miss that, I do still have interest in my Apple II's >> and continue to use them. In fact, this January marks 37 years I've
had my Apple IIGS sitting on my desk.

I read news from news.individual.net and there are a number of other
good sources without needing google groups. I have been reading csa2
since 1989, but have become much more occasional when I check it. It is
good to see much activity and work going on. Holidays were always a
problem, although back in the day when it was mostly postgrads posting
during holidays just because they could. I do recall posting on
    Christmas day once back then.

Been part of CSA2 since 1995 or so. I was using google groups until they
cut off usenet access and posting.

With google groups gone i hadnrCOt posted or read CSA2 and a NBA basketball group in a while. But i am using an app now to post. And irCOm back using a newsreader on my personal laptop.

IrCOll be on usenet until they tuen the lights off lol

What newsreader, if I may ask? IrCOm using NewsTap on my iPhone these days
but looking for something else for my Mac. Unfortunately everything I find seems binary focused and IrCOm only on non-binary groups. (Through eternalseptember.org)

I use Unison, which was once payware but is now free as in couch on the
    side of the road.

I use Thunderbird both for mail and for usenet. My account for
newsgroups is also through Eternal September.

I add another vote for Thunderbird as a newsreader (on both MacOS and Windows), and for Eternal September as a news server.

I use Eternal September and my client is Emacs gnus. I haven't tried
using Thunderbird for usenet news. I use it for email, though.

That's a nice setup in that you can run emacs in a terminal via an
Apple II. This is posted from ProLine in an emulated IIgs. Someday
I'll set it up to run on real hardware.
