Hi

Using MPro 9.01. I received an email with a couple of attachments. When I attempted to save one of them, I got the following error messages:

I could not find a way to rename the offending attachment before saving,
and the save doesn't allow renaming. I had to forward the document to
myself, and pick it up on a PC in order to save it with a legal name.

Is there a way to handle this better please?

Does it makes any difference if you do "Message->Extract All Parts" via
the menu as opposed to dragging a single attachment from the pane?

(I feel that there ought to be a way to control the name given to a file
being exported from MPro, just as you can rename files being attached to e-mails you are about to send, but I can't see one.)

It looks to be that the filename contains spaces. Inaprinciple, they
could be changed to non-breaking spaces (&A0 instead of &20). I
believe that this technique is used elsewhere in RISC OS.

Yes, a very non-intuitive Ctrl-Adjust-double-click on the attachment icon brings up a save as box which allows you to pick a different name.

Yes, a very non-intuitive Ctrl-Adjust-double-click on the attachment icon brings up a save as box which allows you to pick a different name.

According to the manual ("The Message Display Window") it's just an Adjust-double-click, and that does seem to work - though I didn't know
about it, or else had forgotten!

Ah, that's simpler! I should have checked the manual but usually I fumble around till I hit on something that works. It would be rather better if
there was an option off a menu over the attachment icon, I feel. We could also do with a "Save All" option to put them all in a (new?) folder.

Thanks - I'd not spotted that. It also saves the text of the email
(including the HTML version if there is one) as well as actual
attachments, but it would be easy enough to delete those afterwards if not needed.

I think a user interface improvement would be to have a more attachment-specific menu over the attachments area, which would include
saving all attachements, stripping them, and saving individual attachments under new names. That would make it much harder for people not to
discover these features!

I see that the Save As box for saving an individual attachment is also available via Menu -> Goto -> Part.
