Well yes, the intention was to switch over from the old stand alone V1.4
to the rpm based version 2.1 installed & maintained using ANPM.

Why don't you install the old crap along with the GUI, deinstall the old

Clicking on warpin.exe shows a list of installed packages but (e)CUPS is
    not there.

Clicking on CupsGui.wpi gives the error.

Clicking on any other *.wpi such as the cups-base-1_4_8.wpi, allows me
to install its contents or at least go further.

It looked like a good idea but unfortunately it didn't work.
The re-installation worked successfully but the de-installation failed
with the same error message as before.

I tried the "Remove all database entries" but it didn't make any difference.

If everything else fails you can extract the installation script from
the cupsgui.wpi archive, remove the prerequisite section from it (that
points to the cupsbase package) and then readd the installation script
    to cupsgui.wpi.
For this you either have to read the WarpIn programmer's Guide and
Reference (in the same directory as warpin.exe) and do it yourself or
post the installation script and I can try to do it.

See "wic.exe -?" from a commandline to see how to extract and readd the installation script.

    Hi David

You could always try manually unpacking the wpi file using WPIView
    available here https://trac.netlabs.org/vxapps - v1.1.0 works well.

I don't use CUPS on OS/2, but the latest version seems to be distributed
in a .zip file here: <http://www.altsan.org/os2/printing/#cupswiz>. Unfortunately the link to version 1.18 doesn't work. I would contact
    Alex on that.

Or is cupswiz also integrated in a cups .rpm package?

    Hi David,

As others have mentioned, cupswiz.wpi simply will not install unless
you have a WarpIN install of CUPS present.

The code that is triggering the error message you reported is:

    TARGET="$(netlabs.org\eCups\CUPS)\cups"

which the .wis is using to determine where to install the cupswiz
    files.

ArcaOS2 ships with a cupsgui.wpi which installs to

    TARGET="$(WARPIN_DEFAULTTOOLSPATH)\cupsgui"

so it no longer depends on a CUPS WarpIN install.

Alex has fixed his site, so

Assuming you have an RPM install of CUPS, I suspect that cupswiz
should be ready to run once you unzip the package and follow the
    installation instructions.

set BEGINLIBPATH=c:\ecs\install\warpin (assuming you have eCS but check
    for ArcaOS)

    set PATH=%BEGINLIBPATH%\%PATH%

change to directory where cupsgui.wpi is located, usually in
\CID\SERVER\CUPS directory on installation CD-ROM and make a copy to say c:\

    wic -X c:\cupsgui.wpi c:\cupsgui.wis

modify c:\cupsgui.wis in the way Steve suggested
