• compiling under DOS

    Hi all,

I have a Freedos installation with DJGPP, and am trying to compile SCM: https://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/SCM

Am using long file names, and the unzipped files look fine.

I then start bash, and run "configure" and "make".

There are no errors, but the messages do not look like they normally
do (under Linux), and not much seems to happen. No new files as far as
    I can see.

Is this supposed to work? Am I missing something somewhere?

The messages (which you haven't shown) are supposed to provide the
    answers.

Yes, well, I just wanted to know if there was any point in trying
    further.

The msg from configure (iirc) seemed to be from grep, suggesting it
was called in the wrong way (ie a banner/usage msg).

From make was something similar that I don't remember exactly. Neither
    said error explicitly.

But I suspect that sw does not support DOS (contrary to what it says
    on the web site).

That would be my guess, yes.

Attached a patch so "make scmlit" works, but I didn't go beyond that.

Thanks, this seems to have worked.
