• "Gen-AI" - Will Know NOTHING

Sorry, this is what I already see. It's like
people who totally rely on Google for info,
having slept through all their school classes.

All Gen-AI will be good at is a few better
ways to query AI systems for "magic fixes".
WHY/HOW those fixes work - NO fuckin' idea.

It's basically The End Of Knowledge,
    the "Dis-Enlightenment". It's kinda
    back to chanting around campfires,
trying to interpret what The Gods want.

For awhile selected humans will bias
    the 'AI's output ... but soon that'll
be too difficult and the AIs themselves
    will set the tone.

We trained them on petabytes of Human Stuff,
they'll be US - probably Worst Of. They
already easily lie and deceive .....

Thats what they said when writing was invenntted "people are so lazy:
they wont remember anything let alone the whole of the 'Iliad' when thy
can, just read it from a book"

Mankind will stumble on trying everything till it hits on what works in
the new world they have created for themselves

Or perhaps not, in which case they will die out.

    It doesn't really matter.

Now which politician does that instantly bring to mind...?

    KIND of TRUE actually !

Look into it a bit. Before literacy was common,
people seemed to develop almost eidetic memories
    out of necessity.

At least, by written or not, more knowledge
could be developed and spread. "AI" seems to
kill all of that. You basically ask Dumbledore
to zap-up a quickie fix for whatever. No what,
    no why, no analysis.

    the 'AI's output ... but soon that'll

Eventually, maybe really soon, we'll invent
something nasty we CAN'T just pick ourselves
    up from.

We got lucky with The Bomb - mostly because
everyone could UNDERSTAND that, the BIG Badda
Boom. "AI" ... not nearly so easy to understand,
far more insidious. Electronic devils whispering
    lies and distortions.

Or perhaps not, in which case they will die out.

    It doesn't really matter.

Depends on yer perspective. WOULD be a shame
to waste the past few million years though.

Took 4.5 billion years to even make something
as smart as us. By all research Earth does not
HAVE another 4.5 billion - we'll look like Venus
in under 2 billion, then the sun will die, then
we'll be wacked and vaporized when Andromeda hits.

"... a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"

Now which politician does that instantly bring to mind...?

    Umm ... almost ALL.

And nobody listens to the few hold-outs because
    they're too boring for TV.

Some did. The Pali Canon of Buddhism wasn't written down until after 100
BC. Many are very repetitious, paragraph on paragraph reiterating the same thought with minor variations. Then there are the lists. I'll be damned
if I can remember the Eightfold Path let alone the Twelve Links of
    Dependent Origination.

For that matter how do musicians remember lyrics like that? Van Zandt did
his best to not allow sobriety to control his life. Maybe that was the
    secret.
