    Gentoo, the lone wolf among GNU/Linux distros, is now, again,
    supporting HURD:

    Can HURD ever succeed? That depends on YOU. Get off your
    fat, lazy asses and offer support.

    Then maybe GNU can have its own kernel and be free of the
    grubbing corporate domination that now controls Linux.

    The HURD works. The Debian project has reported that 75% of
    its packages function under HURD.

    HURD just needs volunteers, but very few it seems have the
    OS development expertise AND the dedication to free software
    to enable HURD progress.

    (Aside: judging by the replies a lot of people THINK that
    they have the necessary expertise to condemn HURD but that
    is all just ignorant bluster.)

    But as I have stated, the world needs an OS that is totally
    controlled by GNU. Linux is becoming more and more ensnared
    by corporate (i.e. $$$$) interests. IBM/RedHat, for example,
    is forcing Systemd/Wayland to the exclusion of all else because,
    in their grubbing view, those are the only way to guarantee
    future profits. It won't be too long before the Linux kernel
    must incorporate systemd/wayland.

    All those who disagree will be long dead before that happens.
