I wonder what to make of this <https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/apple-reportedly-lobbies-uncle-sam-for-access-to-chinese-memory-chips-tech-giant-allegedly-wants-to-buy-from-blacklisted-cxmt>
-- Apple is so hard-pressed with component prices that it now wants to
buy RAM from a Chinese company.

Unfortunately, the company in question, CXMT, is on the US
GovernmentrCOs rCL1260H list, which still designates it as a Chinese
military company, and doing business with it would cause major
reputational damage to an American companyrCY. A.k.a. yourCOve got to be
really desperate to want to deal with that crowd ...

I had heard about ApplerCOs price rises, of course, but I didnrCOt
appreciate how bad the consequences were for the company:

Apple is in a dire situation itself, having lost $265 billion off
its market cap the day it announced price hikes on MacBooks and
    iPads.

Imagine losing a quarter *trillion* dollars off your market cap, just
because you had to raise your prices! All I can say is, Wall Street
doesnrCOt seem to have much faith in Apple being able to maintain its
    sales volumes ...

Meanwhile, the price hikes make me feel very good about myself.
